Safety Pin Shackles for Secure Lifting

How Screw Pin Bow Shackles and D Shackles Are Used

Screw pin shackles are commonly used in lifting and rigging operations where a strong and secure connection point is required between lifting equipment and the load. These shackles are typically used alongside lifting slings such as wire rope slings, creating a reliable attachment point for lifting assemblies.

The screw pin design allows the shackle pin to be quickly installed or removed by hand, making them ideal for temporary lifting setups where equipment needs to be attached and detached regularly. For applications that require additional security, you may wish to consider our Safety Pin Shackles, which use a nut and split pin locking mechanism.

What’s the Difference Between a D Shackle and a Bow Shackle?

D shackles (also known as dee shackles or chain shackles) feature a narrow D-shaped body that is well suited for straight-line lifting applications. Bow shackles, sometimes referred to as omega shackles, have a wider rounded shape that allows them to accommodate multi-leg lifting slings and side loading more effectively.

Due to their shape, bow shackles are generally preferred for lifting systems where loads may be applied from different angles, while D shackles are better suited to inline lifting configurations.
