How to Use a Ratchet Lashing

Check out this video for a demonstration on how to operate, tension and release ratchet lashings...

  1. Unravel the coil of lashing over your load.

  2. Ensure the hook is securely attached - this can be done by attaching it to the vehicle's chassis or a designated anchor point.

  3. Pull the clutch lever down, click until the slot becomes horizontal.

  4. Feed the slack end through the centre barrel slot.

  5. Tension the ratchet until you are confident your load is secure.

  6. Close the ratchet, squeeze the spring loaded trigger and lock into place.

  7. Depending on the size and weight of your load, you may need multiple straps.

To release the lashing, pull the trigger, lift the handle and lock it into the release gate so the ratchet lever opens.
