We are pleased to announce that we have added a selection of high-quality RUD lifting points to the SafetyLiftinGear range - click here to browse our new additions, or read on to learn more...

RUD is a German brand that's been around for 140 years; in that time, the company has established itself as a worldwide leader in a range of different industries, most notably the lifting and lashing market. For this reason, their products are a very welcome addition to the SafetyLiftinGear catalogue - let's take a closer look at the RUD lifting equipment that you can now purchase from our website:

Available in 7 different thread sizes (ranging from 8mm to 30mm), this lifting point is ideal for use with loads that tilt and swivel. Its ingenious design allows it to be loaded in all directions, and each one is fully tested and certified for your peace of mind. Weight load limits range from 0.3 tonnes to 5 tonnes.

This sturdy eyebolt can be adjusted to the direction of pull using the StarKey locking device (included). Weight load limit ranges from 0.3 to 7 tonnes, depending on size (8 different sizes available).

The third and final product in our newly-added RUD lifting point range is this swivel load ring, which comes in 8 different sizes from 8mm to 36mm. It turns 360 degrees, allowing you to align it to the pull direction when lifting; it can also be tilted, making it ideal for complex jobs that involve a lot of manoeuvring. Weight capacity ranges from 0.3 tonnes to 8 tonnes.

Not all lifting equipment is created equal, and it's important to make sure that the products you use are of a high quality. Lifting heavy loads is extremely dangerous, and if you're carrying out your work using inferior lifting gear, the consequences can be very dire indeed.

Here are two horrifying examples of lifting equipment that simply wasn't good enough for the task at hand:

Welder hospitalised after lifting sling breaks

A male welder and prop maker was working on a structure weighing 4,700 lbs (roughly 2.1 tonnes) that was to be used in the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie. The structure was suspended on a pair of polyester lifting slings, each supposedly with a weight capacity of 5,300 lbs; unfortunately, one of the slings broke whilst the structure was being lifted, and the structure fell onto the welder, breaking his legs and causing multiple fractures in his feet.

Company fined £12k after "horrendous" incident

Pelloby Engineered Limited, a Telford-based company, were recently fined £12,000 (plus £1,057 costs) for an incident that left one employee pinned underneath a two-tonne beam. The worker's legs and torso were crushed by the beam, which had been suspended on a single round sling with an apparent weight capacity of five tonnes. The sling snapped whilst the beam was in the air, leaving the unfortunate employee with what the HSE have referred to as "horrendous injuries" resulting from an "entirely preventable incident".

Here at SafetyLiftinGear, it is our top priority to prevent incidents like these from occurring. All of our products are full tested and certified before we sell them, and our ranges are sourced from some of the world's best lifting equipment manufacturers, giving us - and hopefully you, too - total confidence in everything we stock.

We sell a huge range of lifting equipment here at SafetyLiftinGear - after all, we didn't choose our name for nothing!

It can be quite difficult to navigate a product list that's several hundred items long, so rather than leaving you to scour our extensive collection on your own, we thought we'd put our most popular lifting products right here to make your life a little easier. Here are five of the best-selling product ranges from our Lifting Equipment department:

Polyester Webbing Slings

As far as lifting equipment is concerned, these sturdy lifting slings are our top sellers by quite some distance. Polyester webbing is a tough yet lightweight material that's ideal for all sorts of heavy lifting tasks; our slings are also very shock-absorbent, minimising the risk of damage.

Chainblocks

Our block and tackle section is full of robust, reliable chainblocks that make heavy lifting a quick, easy, and - above all - safe endeavour. Maximum weight capacity ranges from 500kg to 7.5 tonnes.

Beam Trolleys

SafetyLiftinGear's beam trolleys are fully adjustable, allowing you to use them with practically any beam. Many of these products come with a 2 year warranty as standard, so you know that you're getting outstanding quality for your cash!

Polyester Round Slings

While not quite as popular as the webbing slings (see above), our polyester round slings still sell very well, and no wonder - these high-endurance lifting slings are strong, versatile, and can lift loads of up to 30 tonnes in some cases!

Lever Hoists

Last but not least is SLG's world-class collection of lever hoists. Said collection is very versatile indeed; whether you need a heavy-duty lifting solution or something lightweight and cost-effective that gets the job done at the lowest cost possible, our Lever Hoist department has something to suit you!

Remember how, back in April, we told you that SafetyLiftinGear is an official partner of The Bloodhound Project? Remember seeing the photos of our lifting equipment in action, helping to make this record-breaking supersonic car a reality? Yes?

Well, we're pleased to announce that a date has been set for Bloodhound's world debut. The car will be making its first public appearance at Newquay Aerohub on Tuesday 17 November, 2015. This event will consist of a 200mph trial - that may sound fast, but it's actually not even a quarter of the final target. Bear in mind that the Bloodhound team are aiming to eventually hit 1,000mph!

After the trial in Cornwall, Bloodhound will be fitted with air brakes and winglets before being sent to South Africa for high-speed testing (that's right - 200mph doesn't even count as 'high speed'!) in the summer of 2016. After that, it's full speed ahead - no pun intended - for a world land speed record attempt!

You can keep up with all the latest updates from Team Bloodhound at www.bloodhoundssc.com. Alternatively, why not visit our Lifting Equipment section to see some of the products that are being used to build this spectacular supercar?

We at SafetyLiftinGear have been working in the lifting industry for decades, and this experience has helped us to become one of the leading suppliers of lifting equipment in the UK and beyond. Of course, there are lots of other companies to choose from when you're looking for lifting gear, but we firmly believe that SafetyLiftinGear is the best possible choice.

Here are five reasons why:

1) High Quality
Quality and reliability are crucial factors when it comes to lifting gear. You don't want a hoist or a sling that's going to let you down right in the middle of a job - who knows how much damage that could cause? We manufacture many of our products ourselves, so we can personally vouch for the quality of these items; products that are sourced from other suppliers (such as our Elephant hoists) have been chosen for their renowned, market-leading reliability, so no matter what you purchase from SafetyLiftinGear, you won't be disappointed.

2) Value for Money
We don't describe our lifting equipment as 'cheap', but our products do represent excellent value for money. SafetyLiftinGear's prices are as low as can be, and the outstanding average lifespan of our lifting gear ensures that you won't have to spend any additional money on replacements any time soon.

3) Buy Online or In Person
We like to be flexible, and so we offer our customers several different ways to buy. You can order directly from our website and pay online; you can place an order on the website and pick it up in person ('Click & Collect'); or you can just pop into one of our depots and make your purchase there.

4) Demonstration Videos
Have you seen SafetyLiftinGear's YouTube channel? We've uploaded loads of useful videos in the last couple of years, and they're all designed to help you get the most from our products. For example, if you're not sure how to use your new scaffold hoist or chain block, all you have to do is hop over to YouTube and let our staff walk you through it.

5) Ongoing Customer Support
Some companies stop caring about their customers as soon as the money's in the till. Not SafetyLiftinGear, though - we want to make sure that you're totally happy with our service, and there are loads of different ways to get in touch with our team if you need any help. You can telephone 0808 123 69 69, email sales@safetyliftingear.com, or message us on Twitter or Facebook.
