Lifting chains (and the components that are designed to be used with them) come in different 'grades' that indicate the product's strength.
If you're buying chain slings for a heavy lifting job, the two grades you're most likely to come across are Grade 8 (G8) and Grade 100 (G100).

Grade 8
(sometimes called G8, Grade 80 or G80)
Grade 8 chain slings have been the construction industry standard for decades. They're a strong, reliable and cost-effective choice.
G8 chains are typically finished in black with red components, like this:

Sometimes the components are yellow instead of red.
Grade 100
(sometimes called G100, Grade 10 or G10)
Our Grade 100 chain slings conform to the same EN standards as ourGrade 8 slings, but they're stronger, tougher and more durable. Comparing like for like, a G100 chain sling (like this 4 tonne one-leg chain sling) can lift approximately 25% more than an equivalent G8 chain (like this 3.15 tonne one-leg chain sling).
G100 chain slings and components are typically finished in blue, like so:

G100 chain slings tend to cost more than their G8 counterparts, but they also last longer.

Grade 8 chain slings are a great choice if you're looking for dependable performance at an affordable price. Grade 100 chain slings are more expensive, but the extra expense is worthwhile if you're after a heavy-duty solution that offers increased durability and lifting capacity.
