Here at SafetyLiftinGear, we pride ourselves on stocking a comprehensive range of lifting and material handling equipment, both of which are essential in order to provide a safe and secure working environment. One of the many benefits of ordering from us, is that we offer the option to buy or rent your equipment, allowing you to fine tune your purchase according to your budget and time-scale.

If you're not sure which of the two choices is right for you, take a look at our list of pros and cons to weigh up which option is the best fit:

Equipment Hire

Pros:
  • The up-front cost is cheaper than buying the product outright.
  • It can be great for one-off jobs, and saves you from investing in a product that you are unlikely to get much use from.
  • it provides you with the guarantee of a certified and tested solution for each job.
Cons:
  • It can cost you more long-term if you're repeatedly having to hire the same equipment.
  • You may have to extend the rental period if the job goes on for longer than expected.
  • You could be subject to extra costs if an item is damaged.

Purchasing Your Equipment

Pros:
  • Having a good selection of equipment at your disposal whenever you need it.
  • Saves you money in the long term if you will be using the equipment regularly.
  • You will not have the hassle of returning the item once the work is complete.
Cons
  • You will need a stable, and long-term storage space to house your equipment.
  • The initial cost is more expensive, which means you could loose out if it's only for a short-term job.
  • You will need to maintain and keep track of each item yourself.
Once you have decided which of the two is the best for your specific job, you can visit our lifting equipment and material handling pages to browse our full selection of items. Once you have made your choice, select either the 'buy now' or 'hire me' option, for a fast and efficient order process.

Back in April we wrote about how we created a bespoke safety harness for Shaun Gash, a paralysed 44 year old from Lancaster who completed the Born Survivor Challenge - a 10 kilometre military style assault course at the beginning of the year, using only his arms, an off road wheelchair and help from his team mates.

Recently we provided Shaun with a new G- FORCE P80 harness to help him take part in his latest challenge – the ram run. Click here to see them all in action.

Shaun and his team are currently preparing themselves for the UK Championships in November and the World Championships which are taking place next year.
All of these Obstacle Courses are training for his biggest challenge next year,  Shaun and his team are also going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in August next year. You can sponsor Shaun and his team on their Kilimanjaro Challenge by clicking here.

We would like to congratulate Shaun on all of his achievements from 2015.

Working in a confined space can be very dangerous so it is important that you have the right Confined space equipment, to keep yourself and your work colleagues safe from potential hazards.

A confined space is defined as a space which is enclosed with limited exits, where serious injury can occur from hazardous conditions, such as, using chemicals that could combust, excessive heat from welding or even direct sunlight, the presence of toxic gases, fume or vapours which could lead to unconsciousness or asphyxiation, lack of oxygen in the confined space or even oxygen enrichment.

It is important to be aware that even if the space you are working in is not classed as a confined space when you begin your work, however it may become a confined space if there is a change in conditions, for example, and using toxic chemicals for cleaning purposes could produce toxic vapours. So before you start working in a confined space or a space that could become confined you need to be aware of the potential hazards and ensure that you have the correct equipment.
Here at SafetyLiftinGear we understand the dangers of working within confined spaces supply a range of confined space equipment to help keep you as safe as possible from harm when working in such conditions. We have a huge range of adjustable tripods, winches and gantries to aid your descent into confined places such as manholes and shafts.

As well as a huge range tripods and Gantries we also stock fall arrest blocks, rescue harnesses, gas detectors, and breathing apparatus.

Click here to view our full range of confined space equipment if you have any questions about our Confined space equipment, please call us on 0808 123 6969 and a member of out specialist team will be happy to assist you.
