EN 795 anchor points are secure attachment points that conform to the British standard EN 795 for personal fall protection equipment.
In order to comply with the current version of the EN 795 standard (BS EN 795:2012), anchor devices must be removable and capable of safely arresting a worker’s fall from height, preventing serious injury and death. Permanently fixed anchor points fall are covered by a different set of regulations.
EN 795 anchor devices are split into five different categories:
- Type A - Stationary anchor devices that require a structural fixing to be installed (e.g. a removable eyebolt).
- Type B - Temporary, removable anchor points that do not damage the surface of the structure (e.g. a beam clamp).
- Type C - Anchor devices that use horizontal lifelines.
- Type D - Systems that use a rigid anchor line.
- Type E - Deadweight anchors that rely on mass to stay in place.
