About MSA Safety Inc.

MSA Safety Incorporated is an American company that was founded in 1914. After a mine explosion in West Virginia claimed the lives of more than eighty workers, engineer John T. Ryan began exploring ways to protect people in hazardous workplaces. The first product manufactured by Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) was an electric cap lamp that made mine explosions much rarer.

That was more than a hundred years ago. Since then, MSA Safety has become known around the world as a company that's dedicated to protecting the lives of workers.

Kneeling mats for work

We are pleased to announce that we have added a selection of comfortable kneeling mats to our ever-expanding range of tools and equipment for tradespeople.

These portable kneeling mats are ideal for jobs that require you to kneel down for extended periods. Being on your knees can be very uncomfortable, especially if you're kneeling on a hard surface, and chronic aches and pains are common among workers who have to kneel on a regular basis.

Putting one of our soft kneeling mats between your knees and the ground reduces your risk of injury. These kneeling mats are durable enough to be used outdoors, and if the ground is wet, your kneeling mat will also help you to stay dry.

Kneeling mats for work - what can kneeling mats be used for?

Our kneeling mats are especially popular among tradespeople who frequently kneel down to work. For example:

  • Plumbers
  • Electricians
  • Floor fitters
  • Mechanics
  • Bricklayers
  • Carpenters

But these multifunctional kneeling mats aren't just for work. They also have many uses around the house!

Working at height bags

When working at height, it's important to ensure that your tools - and any other items you have on your person - cannot fall to the ground. Even small objects like bolts and screws can be very dangerous when dropped from a great height.

If you carry your equipment in a work bag, that bag must be properly topped to stop its contents from falling out. (We discussed this previously in our blog about The Three Ts of Height Safety.)

To help you prevent accidents while working at height, we've added a range of secure storage bags to the SafetyLiftinGear website. These bags are available to order now, and all of them are specifically designed to prevent tools and equipment from falling out - even if the bag is turned upside down.
