Here at SafetyLiftinGear we are very proud to have supplied safety equipment to the Bloodhound SSC Project. For those who are not aware, the Bloodhound project has been created by Richard Noble OBE and Andy Green, the current Land Speed Record Holder. The Bloodhound project hopes to inspire young people to consider a career in science, mathematical and engineering fields, as well as to break the current land speed record of 763.035mph which was set by Andy Green back in 2007.

The Bloodhound SSC is designed to reach speeds of 1000mph and is currently 95% complete and available for public viewing on Thursday 29th October at the Technical Centre in Bristol.

Some of the side panels will be removed so you can see the truly amazing Rolls-Royce EJ200 Jet engine and the super charged Jaguar V8 Engine.

Alongside the Bloodhound SSC there are other exhibits in the technical centre. So If you are looking for something unique to do with your children this half term we are certain you will love this exhibit.

Back in April we wrote about how we created a bespoke safety harness for Shaun Gash, a paralysed 44 year old from Lancaster who completed the Born Survivor Challenge - a 10 kilometre military style assault course at the beginning of the year, using only his arms, an off road wheelchair and help from his team mates.

Recently we provided Shaun with a new G- FORCE P80 harness to help him take part in his latest challenge – the ram run. Click here to see them all in action.

Shaun and his team are currently preparing themselves for the UK Championships in November and the World Championships which are taking place next year.
All of these Obstacle Courses are training for his biggest challenge next year,  Shaun and his team are also going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in August next year. You can sponsor Shaun and his team on their Kilimanjaro Challenge by clicking here.

We would like to congratulate Shaun on all of his achievements from 2015.

Equipment hire

If you're a regular visitor to the SafetyLiftinGear website, you may have noticed a new feature on our product pages.

 Equipment hire button

That's right - our vast range of lifting equipment and safety gear is now available to hire as well as to buy! This is great news if:

  • Your current brief requires a specific piece of equipment that you're unlikely to use again
  • Your project's budget does not allow you to purchase the necessary equipment outright
  • You don't have room to store your work equipment long-term

We get a lot of enquiries from people looking to hire our products, and so, to make our equipment hire service as straightforward and as accessible as possible, SafetyLiftinGear customers can now specify products and request an equipment hire quotation through our website. Here's what to do:

  1. Find the product you wish to hire. Try starting in our Lifting Equipment department, or perhaps our Height Safety section.

  2. Instead of clicking 'Add to Basket' on the product page, click 'Hire Me' instead. This will add the item to your Hire Basket, which is separate from the normal shopping basket.

  3. Go back to step 1 and repeat until all the products you need are in your Hire Basket.

  4. Once you've found everything you need, go to the Basket page and check that everything's present and correct.

  5. Click the 'Enquire' button and enter your details on the enquiry form.

  6. Click 'Proceed' to send your request to the SLG team.

Once we've received your equipment hire enquiry, we'll get back to you ASAP with a quotation. After that, you'll be able to collect the specified equipment at your nearest SafetyLiftinGear depot - we have locations in Bristol, Bridgwater, Cardiff, Leeds, and both East and West London, so no matter where you're based, you shouldn't have too far to travel!
