A wire rope pulling machine, also called a wire rope winch or wire rope hoist, is a compact and lightweight manual hoist that can be used for lifting, pulling and securing loads.

Wire rope pulling machines work by using a series of mechanical jaws to grip and pull the wire rope. The operator can use the forwards and backwards levers to transfer most of the effort to these jaws, which then grip the rope and pull it along, either lifting or lowering the attached load.
