This is Andrew Bracey, a paraplegic veteran who served in the Royal Artillery for 17 years and lost the use of his legs after a motorbiking accident eleven years ago:

Next May, Andrew will be taking part in the Nuclear Races - a challenging obstacle course event that's known for its "ultra-gritty, properly muddy" terrain - to raise money for Blesma, a British charity that was set up in 1932 to support limbless veterans.

But Andrew doesn't have to wait until the race itself for a taste of what he's in for! Last month, the Nuclear Races organisers hosted a 'taster day' that saw Andrew (along with his team of around 20 friends, family members, and serving soldiers) try out the course and get a hands-on preview of the obstacles in store.

Andrew, who is confined to a wheelchair, completed this initial (but still gruelling!) mud run with the help of a G-Force P70 Harness (plus karabiners) from SafetyLiftinGear. We've provided special wheelchair harnesses in the past for the likes of Shaun Gash, and so we knew that our products would be perfect for this particular challenge.

Congratulations to Andrew and his team for participating in this initial taster day, and we wish them the very best for the main even next May! You can read more about this story on the Blesma website.

Load Restraint Equipment

As we've seen before, it's very important to ensure that all loads are secure when transporting goods over any distance. It's impossible to estimate how much damage has been caused by unsecured loads falling from moving vehicles, but the vast majority of that damage could almost certainly have been prevented through the proper use of good-quality load restraint equipment.

From ratchet straps to load binders, we sell a variety of different load restraint products here at SafetyLiftinGear.com, but which solution is best-suited to your requirements? Today, we'd like to quickly introduce you to a few of our most popular load restraint options and explain where they might come in handy:

Ratchet Strap

Ratchet Lashing Straps

These hard-wearing lashing straps are our most popular load restraint products. Consisting of a length of polyester webbing with a sturdy ratchet mechanism, they are suitable for securing a broad variety of different loads.

Cam Buckle Strap

Cam Buckle Straps

Cam buckle straps are similar to ratchet lashing straps - they just have a cam buckle instead of the ratchet design. Our cam buckle products cost less than the ratchet straps, and they can sometimes be a better choice if you are transporting fragile / delicate goods.

Load Binder Set

Load Binder Kits

Load binders are a heavy-duty load restraint solution that use chains rather than polyester webbing to hold goods in place. Our load binder kits are ideal for transporting large machinery and other heavy items (if you don't wish to buy a full kit, you can purchase the load binder components individually here).

Cargo Bar

Ratcheting Cargo Bars

If you're transporting goods using a pick-up truck or similar vehicle, a cargo bar can act as a barrier to stop things sliding off the truck's load bed. Our ratcheting cargo bars can be adjusted, allowing them to fit a wide variety of different vehicles.

We sell a number of other load restraint products here at SafetyLiftinGear, including bungee cords and polypropylene rope. Please click here to browse our full range, or give us a call on 0808 123 69 69 if you're still not sure which type of load restraint equipment would best suit your needs.

PETZL C72WFA VOLT WIND Harness

We are  happy to announce that we have added yet another high-quality safety harness to our selection, in the form of the C72WFA VOLT WIND by PETZL. This innovative harness is aimed specifically at workers in the wind power industry, and is designed to meet the demands of their work, while maintaining optimum safety and movement.

Thanks to the EASYFIT design of the harness, its first selling point is that it is extremely easy to get into, while also being highly comfortable to wear throughout the day. This is also assisted by the harness' LADDER CLIMB attachment, which allows ventral attachment of the fall-arrest trolley, for continued comfort throughout the progression.

The most useful and innovative of this harness' variety of features, however, are the wear protectors, which are included on the waistbelt and under the dorsal point. This limits strap wear when moving about inside the turbine tower, for lasting and hard-wearing protection against damage, for continued safety.

As well as this innovative safety harness, we also stock a range of other height safety products from PETZL. This includes everything from Karabiners to protective helmets, along with a selection of other high-quality harnesses, which are designed for ultimate comfort and safety.

If you're looking for a safe and versatile lifting solution that will help to improve working efficiency, then a lifting magnet could be the ideal choice for your operation. Unlike other lifting attachments, lifting magnets have a simple securing and attachment process, which means that the lifting application can be initiated quickly, with half the hassle of other lifting solutions. This reduction in attachment processes also means that operation becomes safer for workers, while reducing the chance of causing unnecessary damage to the item being lifted.

Here at SafetyLiftinGear, we have a great selection of magnetic lifting devices, with options to suit a variety of lifting demands. Our range of permanent lifting magnets are an ideal choice for magnetic materials of 2000kg and under, without the need for any additional power. Thanks to the compact design of these lifting magnets, they are incredibly easy to transport, making them a flexible and reliable choice for a on-site lifting.

LIFTING MAGNET 2000KG
The most highly-capable of our lifting magnets is the 2000kg model, which can be bought or hired here, with a 2 year warranty for additional reliability.

In addition to permanent lifting magnets, which can be used with magnetic materials such as iron blocks or cylinder components, we also supply vacuum slab lifters, which provide powerful, cordless suction for stone lifting. These lifters are ideal for laying large stone slabs, and other concrete elements, and are also compatible with a number of lifting devices, for added versatility. Thanks to the rechargeable battery, which has the ability to last for an entire working day, this device is also ideal for on-site lifting, in a range of environments.
Our 400kg Vacuum Slab Lifter is available to hire or buy here.
