Compression Loadcells from Load-Master

In a nutshell, a compression loadcell is a block that measures pushing force. Specifically designed for use where space is limited, these blocks are typically placed beneath the measurable object, providing an accurate reading of the force.

For this purpose, the guys and girls at Load-Master came up with two great solutions in the form of the following items, both now available at SafetyLiftinGear.com.

Load-Master CDC Compression Loadcell

Ideal for jacking, lifting and moving, the CDC disc-type load cell from Load-Master offers portable compressional load measurement in a single product.

In addition to weighing materials, the CDC Compression Loadcell also provides a great solution for testing and calibrating presses, proof testing structures and verifying industrial weighing machines.

Featuring a low-profile design, this lightweight loadcell is ideal for awkward applications that offer limited headroom, while the portable handset display offers uninhibited weighing and force measurements.

Made from high-strength stainless steel, this product is capable of withstanding exceptionally heavy loads, ranging from 500kg all the way up to 10 tonnes.

The CDC Compression Loadcell features a 3-metre cable and also comes with a handy carry case included.

Load-Master DTC Compression Loadcell

Compatible with all industrial processes, this compact and versatile compression loadcell from Load-Master offers a convenient solution for heavy-duty weighing needs.

The DTC Compression Loadcell is highly resistant to impact and dynamic force and perfect for monitoring press forces and jacking loads, as well as proof testing structural members or simply placing under heavy machinery for weighing.

Featuring a domed-surface for ample load transfer though the sensor body, the DTC Compression Loadcell provides measurable reliability in the most arduous of industrial environments.

Much like the CTC version, the DTC model also includes a portable handset, 3-metre cable and carry case for usability. However, unlike the CDC, the DTC is has a maximum load capacity of a whopping 100 tonnes, making it perfect for measuring items of extreme weight and force.

When it comes to safety gear and on-site precautions, small things can make a very big difference. Case in point: fall protection eyebolts.

Designed to safely secure personal fall protection equipment to an anchorage system, these fun-size fall protection fasteners are a vital piece of kit.

As such, when seeking out a provider of such equipment, you’ll want to find a brand that’s reliable and trustworthy. No-one can argue that Pewag isn’t just that.

With a history that incredibly dates all the way back to 1479, it’s clear that Pewag is doing something right. That something is quality and their fall protection eyebolt are no exception.

So, without further ado, let’s shine the spotlight on the range of Pewag fall arrest eyebolt anchors now available at SLG.

Pewag Fall Arrest Eyebolt Anchors

Providing the anchorage system with a safe and reliable means of attachment to the user’s personal fall protection equipment, the Pewag PLGW-PSA Fall Arrest Eyebolts present an exceptional safeguard for those tasked with working at height.

Despite weighing less than a kilo, each of these high-quality eyebolts are extremely durable, specifically designed to meet the standards of EC-Regulations 89/686/EEC and BS8610:2017, as well as the requirements of both EN795:2012 and CEN/TS 16415 directives.

Available in two top-quality variants, both Pewag Fall Arrest Eye Bolt Anchors are also available in three different sizes: M12 for single person use and M16/M20 sizes for dual person use.

Both eyebolts also feature the RAL 1003 colour finish, which has been pre-approved for use with stationary antenna systems, allowing you to use these products for work on cell phone towers.

Meanwhile, each model bears its own individual serial number, providing complete traceability on all compulsory inspections.

Intended for permanent assembly, the PLGW-PSA Basic is mounted to the anchorage system using a commercial Allen Key.

Unlike the basic version, the PLGW-PSA Supreme version features a patented system unique to the supreme model. This allows for tool-free assembly and disassembly once the anchor point is no longer needed.

Climbing ropes are legitimate lifesavers that can, will and have been invaluable to a variety of people all over the globe, from recreational climbers and adrenaline junkies to rescue workers and the people they’re rescuing.

However, if you’re new to the climbing rope market, choosing a climbing rope that’s fit for your purpose can be harder than expected.

Knowing what to look for is an important part of the process. Luckily, this guide should help you do just that.

climbing ropes explained, types of climbing ropes

What to Look for in a Climbing Rope

While there are many different types of climbing ropes, there are four key things to look for when choosing the rope for you. Namely the following:

Rope Type

The two primary types of climbing ropes are dynamic and low stretch.

The main difference between the two is that dynamic ropes stretch to absorb some of the impact of a falling climber, while low stretch ropes barely stretch at all, more suited to load-bearing activity.

Static ropes are great for rescue work, caving and hauling a load, while dynamic ropes are ideal for traditional rock climbing, ice climbing and mountaineering.

Length/Diameter

It’s important to remember that your rope needs to be at least double the length of the pitch you’re ascending (e.g. 50m ascent would require 100m rope).

While a 50m rope will fit most climber needs, rescue work and caving may require longer.

Meanwhile, when it comes to diameter, thinner rope typically translates to a lighter rope overall; however, skinnier ropes can also be less durable.

Thicker ropes, while heavier, are typically more abrasion-resistant and durable.

Features

The rope features can also contribute greatly to the overall performance of the rope; e.g. dry treatment ropes hold up better in wet conditions due to a lower rate of water absorption.

Other features – like bicolour, middle mark and end marking – help identify how much of the rope you have used during a climb, which can be essential for activities like rappelling.

Safety

The top priority for any climber, the safety rating is naturally a very big deal when it comes to finding which climbing rope is right for you.

The relevant safety rating based on UIAA standard should be found on the packaging and feature the fall rating, along with such stats as the static elongation, dynamic elongation and the impact force.

Types of Climbing Ropes at SLG

While SafetyLiftinGear.com aren’t one for leaving our customers hanging, this is one time we make an exception. Our ropes won’t let you down (until you’re ready).

All of our climbing ropes are provided by trusted manufacturers in order to ensure the highest standards of quality and reliability.

At SLG, we offer a variety of climbing ropes to choose from, each one carefully tested for maximum security. Here's an example:

Today, we want to talk you through our selection of high-quality load arrestors from Globestock - these robust products are designed to make sure that heavy loads don't fall when being lifted, even if the load's primary support system fails.

How do they work?

Each G-Guard fall arrestor consists of a retractable safety line that works in a similar way to a seatbelt in a car. If a load drops suddenly whilst attached to this line, the load arrestor's fall protection brake will automatically kick in and prevent the load from crashing to the ground. The brake's shock-absorbent properties minimise the force of the load arrestor, protecting the load from damage and the user from injury.

Why should I use a load arrestor?

Back-up measures like these fall arrestors are important in case your lifting equipment suddenly fails while you are raising a heavy or valuable load. These safety lines will ensure that your load does not fall unexpectedly where, as we've already mentioned, it may cause damage, injury, or even worse.

Although you might not think you need a back-up load arrestor, you'll be thankful you purchased one when you're saving money later down the line. Many of our customers work with valuable equipment in theatres, in nuclear power stations, in building and home renovation etc.

Now, imagine you're trying to hoist a £10,000 chandelier, a centrepiece in someone's home. Your primary lifting device fails and glass shatters everywhere... Not only is this a huge safety risk, but it's also the type of precious load you or your clients may not be able to replace in the event of an accident. This is why it's important to have the right safety precautions in place!

How strong are SafetyLiftinGear's load arrestors?

We have a huge range of different G-Guard load arrestors to choose from, each with its own specifications and weight load limit. Let's take a look at some of the leading products in this range.

G.Guard 300kg Load Arrestor

For lighter loads up to 300kg (stage lighting for example), this is the perfect load arrestor for you.

G.Guard 500kg Load Arrestor

Prevent the free-fall of loads up to 500kg with this load arrestor.

G.Guard 500kg Load Arrestor

These 500kg load arrestors offer you slightly more wire length, perfect for construction sites where loads needed to be lifted to heights of 18mtrs or higher.

G.Guard 1000kg Load Arrestor

For heavy-duty lifting jobs, this load arrestor is unbeatable in load capacity and length!

new products

With summer reaching its swansong, here at SafetyLiftinGear.com, we’ve decided to welcome in the autumn the only way we know how – with more new lifting products, of course!

This time, to broaden our lifting horizons even further, we’ve expanded our collection of products from German brand, Pfaff.

Renowned for their strength, quality and durability, Pfaff has gained a solid reputation for their heavy-duty lifting gear – and these products only strengthen that status.

Pfaff Pallet Movers

When it comes to heavy lifting, Pfaff is a go-to brand for many. Take a look at these newly listed Pfaff pallet trucks and see just why!

Pfaff 'Silverline' 2500kg Pallet Truck

Measuring 540mm x 1150mm and weighing just 68kg, the Pfaff Silverline 2500kg packs some serious pound for pound strength, capable of lifting over 36 times its own weight.

Featuring a high-quality epoxy coating, rubber rollers for noise reduction and an ergonomic handle for maximum comfort, no stone has been left unturned in pursuit of usability.

The one-hand control mechanism also has a 210-degree rotation for manoeuvrability and even features an adjustable pressure control valve to prevent overloading. It also boasts a precision lowering valve, allowing you to easily control the lowering speed.

Pfaff 'Silverline' 2000kg 'Extra Wide' Pallet Truck

This model, as you may guess by the “Extra Wide” moniker, is slightly broader than our last entry. In fact, it’s almost 60% broader measuring 850mm wide.

This additional range makes it perfect for lifting and moving specialist items, such as American pallets or brickyard pallets.

Outside of width, the Pfaff Silverline Extra Wide is much like the Silverline 2500kg, offering an ergonomic handle, adjustable pressure control valve and one-hand controllability.

However, while this wide span does make it useful for girthier items, it’s worth noting that this model does have a lower weight capacity, topping out at 2000kg.

Pfaff 'Proline' 1500kg 'Low Profile' Pallet Truck

Part of the Proline range, the Low Profile model is tailor-made for lifting pallets with a notably lower height, with a lowered fork height of just 51mm.

Meanwhile, this model also features a high-performance hydraulic pump, complete with a chromium-plated piston and pressure relief valve.

It also boasts superior handling capabilities, with a steering angle of 105 degrees to each side, providing accurate movement even in confined spaces.

Pfaff 'Proline' 2000kg 'Quick Lift' Pallet Truck

With a maximum load capacity of 2 tonnes, the Pfaff Quick Lift has the weight advantage over the Low Profile; however, it also more than lives up to its name.

Providing speedy transportation of pallets under demanding conditions, the Quick Lift is capable of hoisting 200kg in just two strokes of the handle.

While this pallet truck does feature many of the perks of the Low Profile – from steering angle to hydraulic pump – it also has some handy additions.

Notably, this model also features a driving/park brake that’s easily operated from the control handle.

Pfaff 'Proline' 2500kg 'Parking Brake' Pallet Truck

With a heavy load capacity and sturdy frame, the Proline Parking Brake model is perfect for moving and transporting palletised goods on unsteady surfaces, such as ramps, slopes and on lorries.

With most of the perks of the Quick Lift (minus the quick lift function), this pallet truck is a versatile option that provides safe manoeuvrability and stability with extreme strength for heavy-duty lifting.
