In the picture above, the P10 is being worn by a worker on a cherry picker as he helps to construct a working Lego replica of London's iconic Tower Bridge. A new year is just around the corner, and big changes are afoot here at SafetyLifitnGear! Early in January 2017, we will be moving our Bristol operations to brand new premises in Avonmouth. We'll be gaining an addition 28,000 square feet when we move into the new building, which will serve as both our head office and our distribution centre.

Here's what our new home looks like from the outside:

New SafetyLiftinGear Distribution Centre

Aside from all the extra space we'll have, the most exciting thing about this move is the number of jobs it will create. We will be taking on a new wave of staff as part of the transition, and we hope that this will be a huge boon to the community in Avonmouth and the surrounding area.

SafetyLiftinGear is a leading supplier of lifting/handling equipment and height safety gear. We have 7 depots across the UK - click here to find your nearest location. And don't worry if you don't live near any of our depots, because you can also order online via our website!

This is Andrew Bracey, a paraplegic veteran who served in the Royal Artillery for 17 years and lost the use of his legs after a motorbiking accident eleven years ago:

Next May, Andrew will be taking part in the Nuclear Races - a challenging obstacle course event that's known for its "ultra-gritty, properly muddy" terrain - to raise money for Blesma, a British charity that was set up in 1932 to support limbless veterans.

But Andrew doesn't have to wait until the race itself for a taste of what he's in for! Last month, the Nuclear Races organisers hosted a 'taster day' that saw Andrew (along with his team of around 20 friends, family members, and serving soldiers) try out the course and get a hands-on preview of the obstacles in store.

Andrew, who is confined to a wheelchair, completed this initial (but still gruelling!) mud run with the help of a G-Force P70 Harness (plus karabiners) from SafetyLiftinGear. We've provided special wheelchair harnesses in the past for the likes of Shaun Gash, and so we knew that our products would be perfect for this particular challenge.

Congratulations to Andrew and his team for participating in this initial taster day, and we wish them the very best for the main even next May! You can read more about this story on the Blesma website.

SafetyLiftinGear recently sponsored the Lloyds Bank Manufacturing team on a 40-mile charity walk. This sponsored walk aimed to raise money for BBC Children in Need, and we were pleased to hear that the Lloyds team managed to raise more than £13,000 for this very worthy cause.

Sponsors

A charity walk may not sound particularly challenging, but be assured that this was no ordinary stroll: 40 miles is a very long way, and the Lloyds Manufacturing team took two days to complete it. That's two days of uneven terrain, sore legs, and painful blisters!

With this in mind, we'd very much like to congratulate the team for completing their walk and for raising so much money for BBC Children in Need. Well done everybody!

In 2008, Richard Noble and Andy Green announced their plans to smash the World Land Speed Record, while, at the same time inspiring the next generation to become enthusiastic about mathematics, engineering and science.

Undoubtedly, the BLOODHOUND SSC is one of the most complex cars created. It states on their websites, that when the car is completed it will comprise of over 3,500 parts, many of which have been designed specifically for the BLOODHOUND SSC, including unique engines designed by Jaguar and Bristol’s own Rolls-Royce.

Inside the BLOODHOUND SSC you will find a EUROJET EJ200 jet engine which will supply the car with only half of its thrust! A Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) in the form of a Jaguar Supercharged V8 Engine.  This will be used to supply 800 litres of high test peroxide to the rocket in just 20 seconds! And finally, the rocket engine, to accelerate the car to 1000 mph the rocket engine combined with the jet engine will provide a thrust of 212kN.

If you would like to go and see the car for yourself, The BLOODHOUND project are currently accepting bookings for their Rocket car experience workshops held during the Easter holidays, making a fun and education day for your children. Click here to read more.

It is a truly amazing project, one which we at SafetyLiftinGear are proud to help by providing lifting and material handling equipment.
