In the past, SafetyLiftinGear has helped a variety of different people and organisations to transport and relocate many different things such as this Dunkirk Little Ship, way back in January of this year.

This trend doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon either, with the latest news that we'd like to bring you of how we helped to relocate a male forest elephant in the Ivory Coast!

Wildlife veterinarian Dr Richard Harvey (http://www.izvg.co.uk/) was asked to assist the Ivory Coast Ministry of Water and Forests to transport a male forest elephant named Hamed.

Hamed was relocated from a small village in the south of the Ivory Coast to N'Zi River Lodge Reserve due to him being a little out of control and causing damage to a number of things, including heavy machinery, vehicles and people's homes!

The situation was getting out of hand and raised concerns for both Hamed and the local population. As a result, Hamed was required to be moved to a safer environment where he could no longer cause harm to others or himself. But, as you can imagine, to move a fully-grown elephant you require specialised equipment. That's where we come in.

How SLG helped

To make the transportation of Hamed as safe and effective as possible, we supplied Dr Harvey with a selection of our strong, reliable webbing and round slings. These were used to secure and lift Hamed safely onto a trailer where he was transported to his new home.

Take a look at the images of the lift below:

Man on broken garden chair

Our polyester webbing slings are designed to support heavy loads during lifting operations, but a customer of ours in Hampshire recently put them to a slightly different use.

Tony Hutchings, a chartered architect, was enjoying the sunshine on Easter Monday when his favourite garden chair collapsed under his weight - one too many Easter eggs, perhaps!

But instead of replacing the chair, Mr Hutchings got creative: he ordered a pair of our 1 tonne webbing slings and used them to strengthen the chair, making it safe to sit in once more.

Garden chair

Here's what he had to say about the service he received from SafetyLiftinGear:

"I ordered the straps the day after Easter Monday - they arrived the next day and are now installed on my seat. The usual use of these slings might be a little different to my use, but with a 1 tonne weight load limit they should keep me safe for many years to come! Great service during difficult times."

We wish Tony and his newly-rejuvenated garden chair many more afternoons in the sunshine, and we hope you are all staying safe at the moment!

Polyester webbing sling

We sell a variety of lifting slings here at SafetyLiftinGear, but our polyester webbing slings are, without a doubt, our most popular range. Today, we're going to take an in-depth look at why that is.

Material

Polyester is the most common choice of material for lifting slings, and with good reason: it's flexible, it's lightweight, and yet it's capable of bearing exceptionally heavy loads without any difficulty whatsoever. It's also very shock-absorbent, which is good news if you don't want your goods to get damaged while they're being lifted and transported!

Cost

Our webbing slings are very cost-effective, starting from just £1.85 each (and that's including VAT!) The more heavy-duty slings are slightly dearer, of course, but no matter what kind of load you're lifting, you're guaranteed to get great value for money with our polyester slings.

Weight Capacity

Another reason for the popularity of our webbing slings is the fact that we really do have one for any task. Maximum weight capacity ranges from 1 tonne to 20 tonnes; better still, we also sell sling hooks, which are colour-coded to help you get the right hook for your webbing sling!

For example, both this sling and the matching hook are capable of lifting up to 1 tonne.
