SafetyLiftinGear recently supplied some heavy-duty lifting equipment to help construction company Skyklass complete a job in Central London.
We rented out an assortment of slings, hoists and lifting beams to assist with the installation of a pre-fabricated roof light weighing 17.2 tonnes.

All equipment was supplied by our London depot. Everything was delivered to the site in Central London and collected once the job had been successfully completed.

We recently received an enquiry from R Turner Loft Conversions, a team of contractors based in Dorset. Specialising as they do in loft conversions, they frequently work at height, and they needed an easy way to lift materials such as roof tiles, OSB, plasterboard, etc.

"We are a small team, and we have been struggling over the years to lift some materials up a ladder, so we decided to purchase a decent hoist. "I decided that I required 4 slings with a sling hook on each end. I searched the Internet and ended up speaking to James Bertham at SafetyLiftinGear. Our polyester webbing slings are designed to support heavy loads during lifting operations, but a customer of ours in Hampshire recently put them to a slightly different use.
Tony Hutchings, a chartered architect, was enjoying the sunshine on Easter Monday when his favourite garden chair collapsed under his weight - one too many Easter eggs, perhaps!
But instead of replacing the chair, Mr Hutchings got creative: he ordered a pair of our 1 tonne webbing slings and used them to strengthen the chair, making it safe to sit in once more.

In the past week, the team at SafetyLiftinGear have been busy helping out with an exciting project in partnership with lifting specialists, King Lifting!
The project was focused around helping to lift Dorian, a restored ship used in both World Wars, namely during the evacuation of Dunkirk.
King Lifting had previously purchased a number of round and webbing lifting slings from us to assist with other lifting applications but in order to lift the Dunkirk ship, further equipment was required.
This time around, SLG supplied a 12ft Modular Spreader Beam frame (4 x 4 meter) with associated shackles in order for the weight of the ship to be properly carried (tare weight of the boat on the crane was 9.7 tonnes), helping it on its way to the next part of its journey.
Eight long years have passed since restoration started on Dorian in 2011, but now she is ready to take to the sea again, ready for the Return to Dunkirk. Organised by the Association of Dunkirk Little Ships to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Operation Dynamo in May 2020, SafetyLiftinGear is proud to have played a small part in the ship’s long and historical story.
